VMware and Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services

I know this might be a strange combination, but if you ever need to VMware 4.0 and MS SQL Reporting Services installed on the same computer (Windows Server 2008 64-bit) contain, so that you do. Be warned, do not support this configuration, the end of VMWare, but I had no problems with it so far.

VMware requires a SQL database (SQL 2005 or SQL 2008 at the time of this writing). Although you can remote database that wethe need for a local installation as well as we needed to use SQL Server Reporting Services installation. After installing the Windows operating system that we include a full installation of SQL Server 2005 SP3 done. We first tried the manage SQL 2008, SQL 2008 but no longer with the IIS for Reporting Services management and made it very difficult for their doors and 2 small software (Note: The doors are 80 overlap and 443).

Vmware

After installing SQL Server 2005, you can vSpherevCenter 4th During installation, you can use vCenter ports, but that does not work. SQL Reporting Services requirements for the internal communication port 443 I changed the port to 444 vCenter when using SQL 2008, but apparently not aware that vCenter port setting and locked the door after a 443 - Reporting Services from kaput. Then install vCenter with the standard ports.

Now go to IIS (Note: SQL Server 2005, you must install all components on IIS server 2008) and the changethe door for Reporting Services to port 81 No need to touch the port 443 for MS SQL Reporting Services to work. Now open the Report Services Configuration tool and select the Web Service Identity. Set the AppPool to "Classic.NET" for the report server and Report Manager.

MS SQL Reporting Services should work as long as fine as the new port you specify in the URL when accessing the reports.

Why does not SQL 2008 with me? SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services usesHTTPS traffic much more than SQL Server does 2005th VMware closes the door (even if not to say it), SQL Server 2008 Reporting does not work correctly Services. Please note that this is a vision of the high-level management issues vCenter VMWare and MS SQL Reporting Services from the same server.
