A short document, as I have a Linksys PowerLine network in my apartment, which can touch me to the Internet from any power outlet in every room. I use two Linksys PLE200 adapters together as a kit with two adapters and two Ethernet cables (PLK200) purchased. Do I get a LAN speed of 70 Mbit / sec when copying files between my two computers, that's without the overhead and a Vista-only LAN. With a mixed XP / Vista LAN speed drops to about 50 Mbit / s. LinkSys supports a maximumof 85 Mbit / sec with these adapters. The speed can be a direct connection to the shops, that is, without an extension can be improved. But since my connection speed just a few Mbit / sec is not to think about it for today. One caveat: These adapters require no configuration to work out of the box. However, it is important that you change the password in the adapter from the factory default password. Otherwise, people may be in the adjoining apartments in a position to intercept network traffic. ThePassword is the same in adapters that are designed to be form a single network. With the installation of multiple cards with different types of passwords, you can have multiple networks that do not interfere with each other, although they use the same hard wiring. The password can be set with the configuration software with the package. Make sure you run the software as an administrator when working with Windows Vista. See also reviews.cnet.com
